Hietsu is Happening!
to do or not to do
Mikko Innanen, Petri Kumela and Antti Lötjönen &Co. created this mixture of arts in the middle of the pandemic together with YLE. No one was hurt in the process.

I was invited to join in the earliest of stage to this production by my friend Timo Nykänen.
Timo explained to me how this Happening has been going on and the difficulty of getting it done this year as the pandemic changed constantly everything. We at HCP take pride in joining forces when there are things we see create shared value. A normal year I am sure we would have found our crew members in various tasks helping to build this event, but in this year of the pandemic we got another role.

Hietsu is Happening! (HiH!) is a series of multidisciplinary art events held at Hietsun Paviljonki in the Etu-Töölö region of Helsinki since 2016. HiH! is founded and curated by musicians Antti Lötjönen, Petri Kumela and Mikko Innanen. Up to date 22 happenings have been organized, the most ambitious being the 7-hour event on July 30th 2021 that The Finnish Broadcasting Company aired live on the Yle Teema TV-channel, featuring 29 artists, such as Tuuli Lindeberg, Marianna Henriksson, Markus Allan, Mika Kallio, Max Zenger, Markus Kåhre, Vesa Vierikko, Laura Laakso, Vera Nevanlinna and Veli Kujala.
The story of the stone soup, was in the core of our role in this. As the musicians had their idea and very low visibility we got to be the stone on the bottom of the pot with our symbolic amount of euros.
Fast forward some months and the pandemic was still causing chaos, but the group had got their message throug to YLE and it all resulted in the event being recorded and produced to seven hours of material to the national broadcaster’s online service YLE Areena.
What on excellent beginning of the end of COVID19. We people can mentally conquer it. Just check it out https://areena.yle.fi/1-50889696
